Verification

How verification works

Before a listing goes live, we check it against the business’s own website. A detail we can’t find there doesn’t go on the listing.

    A live website of its own

    We open the business’s website and confirm it loads, belongs to the business and names it. A listing needs one, because every detail we publish has to be something the business already shows the public.

  2. 02

    Name, phone and town match

    The name, phone number and town on the listing have to match the website. If the website doesn’t show a street address, the listing doesn’t either.

  3. 03

    Services and service area as published

    Services and the area served come from what the business lists itself. We don’t add a service it doesn’t offer on its site or a town it doesn’t name.

  4. 04

    Credentials only when shown publicly

    A license or registration number appears only when the business displays it on its website. We leave out insurance, awards and certifications we can’t see there.

  5. 05

    A dated record

    Each listing shows the date of its last check and what we checked. When a business sends new details, we check them the same way before the listing changes.

Free listings, no paid rankings

  • Free to be listed

    No business pays for a listing, an update, a badge or a position.

  • No paid rankings

    Listings appear in alphabetical order within each category. There are no featured spots for sale.

  • Clients get the same checks

    All 11 current listings are Mega Media clients, the businesses the directory started with. Each of those profiles says so. Clients went through the checks above, the same ones every applicant gets, and sit in the same alphabetical order.

  • No ratings or reviews

    We don’t collect reviews, so no listing shows stars or a score.
