Privacy policy

The contact form asks for your name, email address and message, and optionally a phone number. The proposal form also asks for the kind of project and, optionally, your business name and current website. We use these details to reply to you and to prepare a proposal.

Each submission is delivered to our email inbox by Resend, an email delivery service that handles the message under its own privacy policy. The website does not keep its own database of submissions. The email stays in our inbox as the record of our conversation with you.

To filter out spam, each form also sends how long the form was open before you pressed send, and a hidden field that people never see. Our server keeps the IP address of each submission in memory for a short time to limit repeated sends. It is not written to a database.

Our spam filter also reads each message as it arrives and checks that the domain of your email address can receive mail. A message it identifies as junk, or an identical message sent twice, is discarded and never reaches our inbox, and the form still shows its normal confirmation. A message that looks suspicious but isn't clearly junk is delivered to us with a warning in the subject. If you don't hear back from us, email or call us directly.

The site is served over HTTPS, so what you type is encrypted on its way to us.

The application for a listing in our local business directory asks for the business name, its website, the town it is based in, a category, an optional business phone number, your name and email address, and an optional note. You also confirm that you own the business or are authorized to list it.

The application is delivered, spam-checked and kept in our inbox in the same way as the forms above. We use the business details to verify the business and publish its listing, and your name and email address to confirm those details with you.

We can switch on Cloudflare Turnstile, a check that tells people from bots on our forms. While it is off, nothing is loaded from Cloudflare.

When it is on, the first time you click into a form field your browser loads a script from Cloudflare, and Cloudflare receives your IP address and browser signals to decide whether you are a person. When you send the form, our server passes the check result and your IP address to Cloudflare to confirm it. Cloudflare handles this under its own privacy policy.

We use Google Analytics to see which pages people visit, how they arrived (for example, from a Google search) and what kind of device and browser they use. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser to tell visits apart.

When a form is sent, the site records a lead event in Analytics that names the form used. It does not include anything you typed.

Google handles this data under its own terms. Google explains how it uses information from sites that use its services, and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on stops Analytics from running in your browser.

We don't sell or rent personal information, and we don't share it for advertising. Besides the provider that hosts our email inbox, the outside services involved are the ones named above: Resend for form email, Google Analytics, Vercel for hosting and speed measurement, Google PageSpeed Insights for the speed test, and Cloudflare Turnstile when it is switched on.
